You Have Access. Now What?

Let’s say that the playing field is, at long last, being leveled. Awesome! What now?

If we all have equal access to the means of empowering ourselves in business, shouldn’t we do everything in our power to make ourselves stand out from an ever-larger crowd?

With the gatekeepers removed from their posts, a sea of people is about to crash the gates — each and every one of them pushing their voice, idea, and personal brand. Organizations may be in a similar position as they struggle to differentiate themselves by pulling away from the noise and go about things in a whole new way.

In our virtual age (aka the “new normal”), it’s more important than ever to carve out an identity that’s both authentic and unlike any other. Whether personal or professional, purpose-driven brands (as opposed to virtue-signaling opportunists) will need to do their best branding ever.

My advice: Strengthen your connections, both actual and virtual, by being you. Find your voice and use it to express your most authentic self.

Who are you? What do you do? Why are you driven to do what you do? You have an obligation to yourself, to your potential, and to our greater cultural moment to tell your story. Tell it now. Tell it well.
