Ideas for Marketing Your Competition, Contest, Challenge or Award Program

So, you’ve got your event all lined up, a new website designed, submission forms outlined, prize money secured, you’ve tested everything on your competition platform (Skild, of course) and you’re ready to launch your program to the world. After all, as was said in the movie, Field of Dreams, “If you build it they will come.” You’re ready!

Whoa! Not so fast.  You've got more to think about.  To start the process, you’ll need to consider these questions:
  • Who is my audience? What are their ages? Genders? Geographical location? What do they do for a living?
  • What are their interests?
  • Where are they spending their time?
  • Why do you need for them to participate?
  • How can we gauge their interests and attract them to our
    event?

This document will highlight some of the ways you can target participants.
